IFS Coaching with Dr. Rakhel Shapiro
IFS Coaching for Meditators & Self-Reflective Clients
A space to explore your inner world with depth and compassion.
Many of the people I coach already have a meditation or self-reflection practice. They may have insight into their patterns, yet feel like insight and awareness haven’t been enough to provide the emotional relief or create the changes they’re looking for. And some are just curious explorers of their inner worlds, who would like to try a new way of getting to know themselves and their psyches.
Coaching offers a space to explore your inner landscape in a more supported, relational way.

Coaching with me is often a good fit for people who:
Have an existing meditation or contemplative practice
Are curious about Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Want support doing deeper emotional work than solo practice allows
Want a facilitated space with someone versed in emotional work, who also understands their meditation practice
Notice recurring patterns despite insight or awareness
Long to feel more connected to desire, creativity, or authenticity
Value inner exploration
Many clients are referred to me by meditation teachers, or come from contemplative communities, but you don’t have to be a meditator to work with me.
My Coaching Approach
My coaching is grounded in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and my experience in multiple meditation traditions.
IFS offers a gentle, structured way to relate to different parts of yourself — for example, parts that strive, protect, doubt, long for more, hold conditioning from the past. Rather than trying to quiet these parts, we learn to listen to them, and relate to them with curiosity and compassion. And we learn to connect with the vast resources inside you.
This work can support you in:
Creating a sense of inner harmony
Finding greater ease and lightness
Balancing non-self teachings with a healthy, grounded, flexible, and embodied sense of self
Moving through painful emotions and patterns that feel stuck
Moving through difficulties that can arise in meditation practice
Clarifying desires and direction
Working with inner conflicts
Accessing creativity and aliveness
Developing deeper self-trust
Many meditators find IFS complements their practice by offering a relational way to engage with emotions and patterns that arise.
Important Note
Coaching is not psychotherapy and does not diagnose or treat mental health conditions.
It is best suited for people seeking personal growth and self-understanding rather than clinical treatment.
If therapy would be more appropriate for your needs, I will say so and help you find support.

What Sessions Feel Like
Sessions include:
As much or as little talking about your experience as you would like
Connecting with sensations in your body, and the thoughts, emotions, and memories connected with them
Exploring your inner world, and getting to know different parts of you
Directing compassion towards the different parts of you
Accessing your inner resources, and providing care for different parts of you through those vast inner resources
Sessions are:
Client centered. I take your lead about what’s important to you, and respect that you are the leader in your life
Trauma informed. We’ll set the pace intentionally in response to what facilitates growth and healing, and what feels like too much
Non-pathologizing. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with you! I think you had experiences that were harmful, and experiences where you didn’t get what you need. We can now provide the care that was missing.
